Samoa and Tonga are passionate rivals. But when the focus is on #corruption trends in these countries rather than rugby or rugby league results there is relatively little media coverage as #Samoa and #Tonga are some of the numerous Small Island Developing States (SIDS) which were not reported on in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2025 report.
Fortunately, the World Bank’s Control of Corruption governance indicator provides data that allows an examination of 2012-2024 control of corruption scores in the SIDS that were not included in the CPI 2025 report together with some other SIDS that are associate members of UN regional commissions).
